A Chief Magistrate Court in Ado Ekiti has ordered the remand of 11 men over an alleged plan to disrupt the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary election set for Saturday, May 16, 2026.
Chief Magistrate Adeosun of Court 1, Ado Ekiti Magisterial
District, granted the order on an ex-parte motion filed by the Ekiti State
Police Command. The application cited Sections 264 (1) and (2) of the Ekiti
State Administration of Criminal Justice Law and Order 6 Rule 4 of the ACJL
Rules 2020.
The police, represented by ASP Oriyomi and Legal Officer
S.O. Osobu Esq., asked the court to remand the suspects at Ado Ekiti
Correctional Centre while investigations continue. The allegations include
conspiracy, political violence, and plans to destabilize the APC primary
process.
According to court filings, the suspects were paraded at the
Ekiti State Police Headquarters on Friday. Police say they confessed during
questioning to being sponsored by a sitting House of Representatives member,
Hon. Akinlayo Davidson Kolawole. Authorities say investigations into the claim
are ongoing.
After reviewing Form K and supporting affidavits, Magistrate
Adeosun approved a 30-day remand to allow police to complete their
investigation. The case was adjourned to June 16, 2026, for further mention.
The 11 defendants named in court documents are: Adekunle
Stephen, Adepoju Adebayo, Boluwaji
Ishola, Oluwatobi Adeoluwa, Akintunde Emmanuel, and Adewale Makanjuola.
Others are Ibitola Babatope, Abanikanda Sikiru, Dayo Ibijowo, Ajayi Dele and Adegbite Damola.
