By Editor

The Ekiti State Government has announced that its July environmental sanitation exercise will hold on Saturday, July 25, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. across the state.

The exercise is themed "Together, Let Us Eradicate Diseases and Prevent Flooding."

The Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Erelu Tosin Aluko-Ajisafe, in a statement on the exercise, urged residents to participate actively and keep their surroundings clean.

She advised residents to desist from practices capable of causing flooding, particularly the indiscriminate dumping of refuse in drainage channels and waterways.

Aluko-Ajisafe said movement would be restricted during the exercise, except for persons rendering essential services.

She added that market women were expected to clean their stalls on Thursday, while public servants would carry out environmental sanitation in their offices on Friday.

The commissioner said Environmental Health Officers and other relevant agencies had been deployed to monitor compliance across the state.

She urged residents to support the government's efforts to maintain a clean, healthy and safe environment, free of preventable diseases and flooding.
