2027: BAMIDELE, OTHERS TO GET AUTOMATIC RETURN TICKETS

By Abidemi Omoyajowo

There are indications that the Senator representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District, Michael Opeyemi Bamidele (MOB) and a few other lawmakers at the red chamber would get automatic return ticket to the upper chamber in 2027.

According to The Conclave, the return ticket is a reward for the senators' efforts at stabilizing the National Assembly.

Speaking at a political meeting in Kebbi, the Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris told stakeholders that President Bola Tinubu is “favourably disposed” to ensuring continuity for senators who have provided steady leadership and smoothened relations with the executive.

According to Governor Idris, the president tilts towards ensuring automatic return tickets for the following lawmakers: Michael Opeyemi Bamidele (Ekiti Central), Adamu Aliero (Kebbi Central), Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara West), and Orji Uzor Kalu (Abia North).

Others are Yahaya Abdullahi (Kebbi North), Abdullahi Yahaya Abubakar (Kebbi North), Idiat Oluranti Adebule (Lagos West), Danjuma Goje (Gombe Central), and Adetokunbo Abiru (Lagos East).

Governor Idris said the senators have been “instrumental in providing steady leadership within the Senate, fostering cooperation with the executive arm of government, and ensuring the smooth passage of key policies and reforms.”

He added that their contributions “have significantly helped in stabilising the Senate and strengthening governance under the current administration.”

Though there is yet to be a confirmation from the Presidency or the APC national leadership, Bamidele, who is currently the Senate Leader, for instance is seeking re-election unopposed as nobody in Ekiti State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has shown interest to unseat him.

Feelers from the State indicate that the Senator's performance has been sterling and deserves a return to the upper chamber.
