The Ekiti State Government has distributed relief materials valued at over ₦136 million to victims of recent rainstorm disasters across the state. 


The intervention also included hospital equipment for health facilities, instructional materials for schools, and items to support small businesses.


Presenting the items to the beneficiaries at a ceremony in Ado-Ekiti ,the State Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs.) Monisade Afuye, represented by the Permanent Secretary in her office, Mr. Adeleke Adefolaju described the exercise as a demonstration of the people-centred approach of the Biodun Oyebanji administration.


He said the government remained committed to ensuring that no citizen is left behind in its development agenda, adding that while the assistance could not fully replace losses, it would help beneficiaries rebuild their lives.


Chief Afuye said the hospital equipment would strengthen healthcare delivery, while instructional materials were intended to improve teaching and learning in schools.


She added that the empowerment items were aimed at stimulating economic activity, promoting self-reliance, and improving living standards.


Chairman of the Ekiti State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Alhaji Ademola Bello, lauded  Governor Oyebanji for promptly approving funds to support affected residents.


 He recalled that the administration had previously provided over ₦300 million in aid to rainstorm victims and more than ₦100 million to fire disaster victims across the state.


In his remarks at the event, the General Manager of SEMA, Mr. Oludare Asaolu, commended the Deputy Governor for personally leading assessment visits to affected communities.


He disclosed that the government collaborated with the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) to donate additional items for schools, hospitals, and vulnerable groups.


Officials, including the State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun; Chief Medical Director of Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Prof. Olabanji; Chairman of the  Ekiti State House of Assembly Committee on Environment, Hon. (Mrs.) Iyabo Fakunle-Okieme ; and the Chairman of Ijero Local Government, Hon. Abayomi Folowosele, urged beneficiaries to use the materials responsibly and support government development programmes.


Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the state government, describing the intervention as timely and impactful.
